Before You Arrive

Visitors to the Turks and Caicos Islands must present a valid passport to enter the country. Most official and tourism-focused sources state that your passport should be valid for at least three months beyond your intended departure date from Turks and Caicos. This three-month rule helps ensure you won’t encounter issues with immigration or with airlines enforcing international travel requirements. Having at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps is also recommended.

Artwork at Aqua Solis

Aqua Solis features a thoughtfully curated collection of artwork throughout the villa,s selected to complement the architecture and reflect the natural beauty of Turks and Caicos. All of the pieces are by a local island-based artist, adding a meaningful sense of place to the interiors.

The works are by Beatrix Neuhaus, whose photography captures the textures, light, and understated elegance of the islands. Her work is available locally at Anna’s in Saltmills Plaza, and online at beatrixneuhausphotography.com. Guests who connect with a particular piece are welcome to explore her work further during their stay.

The artwork is intended to be enjoyed as part of the overall villa experience, enhancing the calm, contemporary atmosphere while celebrating the creative spirit of the island.

Where do I buy a cell card?

If you are planning on purchasing a local (649) phone number during your stay, the two major telecom providers are DigiCel and FLOW. Both are located on Leeward Highway and they can assist you with any telecom needs.

Which side of the road do I drive on?

The Turks and Caicos Islands drive on the LEFT side of the road. Please be careful. There are no traffic lights in the Turks & Caicos, rather all intersections are either controlled via stop signs, or via roundabouts. Pay close attention to the direction of traffic flow in roundabouts. It is clockwise. When in doubt, give way. As you would in any foreign country, please be careful when driving.

What do I pack or wear to head out for the day?

It is very warm in the Turks & Caicos. Please dress accordingly. You will want to arrive wearing light clothing as the airport is warm and often congested.

About communication on the Island

While regular messaging apps may work depending on data availability, you will find WhatsApp to be the dominant communication platform in the Turks & Caicos. It’s a great idea to have it pre-installed prior to your arrival.

Can I use an eSIM instead of buying a local SIM card?

Yes. If your phone supports eSIM technology, using an eSIM can be a very convenient option during your stay in Turks and Caicos. eSIMs allow you to activate mobile data digitally without visiting a physical store or swapping SIM cards, making them especially useful if you want connectivity as soon as you land.

Two popular eSIM providers that work well in Turks and Caicos are Airalo and Roamless. Both offer short-term data plans that can be purchased and activated through their apps before or during your trip. Coverage is generally reliable in Providenciales and surrounding areas, and plans are ideal for navigation, messaging, ride coordination, and general browsing.

We recommend downloading the eSIM app, setting up your account, and purchasing your plan before arrival so everything is ready to activate once you land. Please note that eSIMs typically provide data only, not a local (649) phone number, so WhatsApp remains the preferred way to communicate with drivers, restaurants, and local services while on island.

About the airport…

Providenciales International Airport (PLS) can be daunting to new visitors. Once you deplane, you will be directed to immigration hall to line up and wait for arrival processing by Turks and Caicos Immigration. Your airline should supply you with pre-arrival forms to fill out. Please do so carefully to avoid errors or delays at immigration. BRING A PEN WITH YOU. If you forgot to tick a box or sign a form, it will be very helpful to avoid frustration and delays. Your immigration visa expiry slip will be handed back to you inside your passport. In case you need to prove you are on the island lawfully and within your expiry date, it’s best to carry your visa slip with you in the unlikely event you have to show it to law enforcement or immigration officials during your stay. As the wait times in immigration hall may be significant when multiple flights are arriving, you may want to consider a VIP FastTrack service to expedite your arrival or departure.

Flight Tracking

Flights may be delayed as all outbound routes from PLS are dependent on inbound flights arriving and processing on schedule. It’s a good idea to have a flight tracker bookmarked to monitor the status of your flight or arrivals / departures of family & friends. Many flight tracker apps are also available for iOS and Android. Search in your country’s app store for free dedicated apps.

Do UBER and Lyft work on the Island?

Uber & LYFT do not work on-island. Taxis are unconventional here, and can typically only be found at the airport. They are also shared rides, meaning you and your party will likely not be the only passengers in the vehicle. The airport staff outside the arrivals area after clearing customs will direct you to a driver / taxi, who will fill the vehicle and make multiple stops. You can expect to pay $40 - $60 per person. Also, if you are walking around and find cars are beeping their horns at you, they are unlicensed taxis called “jitneys” and they are offering you a ride by beeping their horn. Strongly consider your personal safety before accepting a ride. It can be difficult to rent vehicles on the island last-minute. You are strongly encouraged to reserve your vehicle at the same time you book your stay.
